- 喬治米勒重拍梅爾吉勃遜1979年的好萊塢成名作《衝鋒飛車隊》，新版集結莎莉賽隆、湯姆哈迪等卡司，預算一億五千萬美元，莎莉賽隆為戲犧牲理大光頭，《變形金剛3》英國女模蘿西杭亭頓也加入演出。
瘋狂麥斯心頭縈繞著混亂的過去，他相信最好的生存之道就是獨自浪跡天涯。然而，他遇到由芙莉歐莎指揮官領導的一群人，他們要逃過戰區的荒原，並設法躲避不死老喬旗下的要塞。驚險刺激的公路戰爭隨之而起。
拍攝本片前，導演喬治米勒還沒給湯姆哈迪看劇本就先讓他看三千多張的電影分鏡圖，並且一張一張為他解釋電影的拍攝手法，導演說：「我實在不知道該怎麼用文字來形容這部電影，因為它有漫天的風沙、瘋狂的追逐、個性十足的角色與許多場驚人的爆破場面，用文字很難敘述。」所以導演一次跟五位分鏡師合作，畫了三千五百張分鏡圖，完成後才來想該把台詞放在哪裡。「後來才發現，麥斯的台詞好像不多呀！」導演喬治米勒笑著說。
導演也同時比較了湯姆哈迪與梅爾吉勃遜，他形容：雖然同樣是飾演麥斯這個自我放逐的反英雄角色，湯姆哈迪演出不一樣的味道，他走出自己的瘋狂。而莎莉賽隆所飾演的芙莉歐莎指揮官更是讓莎莉賽隆整個改頭換面，平頭再加上機械手臂的造型，讓人強烈地感受到她的叛逆與強悍的行事作風。莎莉賽隆不畏狂風沙的敬業態度也讓他留下深刻印象。

Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa. They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.
